How Car Donation Works
Donating your car to Chabad Cars takes about five steps. You fill out a short form or call 1-866-770-5463, we schedule free towing (often same-day or next-day), the car is picked up even if you're not home, and you get a tax-deductible receipt. A third-party sponsor's hotel certificate follows in 2–4 weeks.
Step by Step
1. Tell us about your vehicle (about 5 minutes). Fill out the donation form or call 1-866-770-5463. Running or not, cars, trucks, vans, RVs, boats and trailers are all accepted.
2. We schedule free towing anywhere in the U.S., often same-day or next-day.
3. Get the car ready: remove personal items and your license plates, and have the title and keys ready.
4. Pickup day: you don't need to be home. Afterward, cancel your insurance and notify your state motor vehicle agency if required.
5. You receive a tax-deductible receipt. If your deduction is over $500, IRS rules generally require Form 1098-C within 30 days of the vehicle's sale. Check with your tax advisor.
6. As a thank-you, a third-party sponsor sends a free 2-night hotel stay certificate, usually 2–4 weeks after pickup.
